Fostering is one of the most powerful ways you can help save a life. By opening your home temporarily, you give a pet the love, stability, and security they need while they wait for their forever family. 🏡 Whether it’s a playful puppy, a nursing mom and her kittens, or a senior dog who just needs a quiet place to rest, fosters are heroes in every sense of the word.

Why foster?
- Fostering gives pets a break from the stress of the shelter environment.
- It helps us learn more about their personality, making it easier to find the perfect match.
- It frees up shelter space so we can take in more animals in need.
- And best of all—you get to enjoy the unconditional love of a pet, even if only for a short time.
How fostering works
- Download and complete the application.
- Submit it to us:
- In person: 106 Haley Lane
- By email: cchs@tisd.net
- Once we receive it, our team will contact you to discuss your home environment, schedule, and preferences.
- We’ll then match you with a pet (or pets!) who would thrive in your care.
We’ll provide you with guidance and support, and in many cases, the food and basic supplies you’ll need. You just bring the love and a safe space. ❤️
Helpful tips
- Let us know if you’re comfortable fostering specific types of pets (puppies, kittens, senior dogs, medical cases, etc.).
- Don’t worry if you’ve never fostered before—we’ll walk you through every step.
- Fostering can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the pet’s needs and your availability.
Thank you for considering becoming a foster. Your kindness and generosity give animals the second chance they deserve!
